What do vultures do on a slow day?

Reuters seems rather blase' about the life of companies that
pick on entire, functioning national economies.
The vultures have come home to roost, in Europe.

Hedge funds line up bets on Spain's debt woes

By Laurence Fletcher

LONDON

(Reuters) - Hedge funds have spotted money-making opportunities in Spain, betting that market fears over the southern European country's deepening debt crisis have made some assets too cheap relative to other securities.

Managers have been exploiting what they see as the mispricing of credit default swaps, government and corporate bonds and stocks, after months of growing market concern that Spain might need an international bailout, using relative value trades - betting on one security versus another....

The Russkies are coming. Get your guns

coming soon. be patient, and above all DON'T PANIC!

There have been so many apocalyptic American films
(what other apocalyptic movie industry is there? Vietnam....)
about the Russian army waltzing into Washington, etc.
I'll find them soon.

It just seemed that Fox News and other "intelligentsia" (fine Russian word)
were whipping up hatred of the Russians, only for them to show up on
the doorsteps of Americans, very soon.
I hope some guy takes Glenn Beck at his word and attacks this travesty.
It's only fitting since Beck has been screaming about the nefarious RT
channel which dares to reveal to American exactly what's going on in
the parts of the country not directly under watchers' noses, or couches.

Media buzz as US confirms Russian troops to train on American soil

Published: 28 April, 2012, 18:04
The US has confirmed that Russian troops will carry out joint anti-terror drills on American soil in May. Reports of the unprecedented initiative had triggered hysteria in American public debate, with claims of the US fraternizing with “the enemy.”

Commander Wendy L. Snyder, US Defense Press Officer for policy told The New American in an e-mail the Russian soldiers will be invited by the US government.

This is part of a “formal bilateral exchange program between the US and Russia that seeks to develop transparency and promote defense reform,” she wrote.

Around twenty airborne Russian troops with arrive in Fort Carson, Colorado to take part in the training program targeting “terrorists”. It will be the first time Russian soldiers have conducted military training on American territory.

However, the landmark news of the Russian troops’ arrival was not greeted with enthusiasm by everyone. Fear-mongering reports in US media called the exercise “a front” for the Russians to turn US weapons against the Americans and “take and hold Denver airport.”

Citing an erroneous report that it said came from the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, US website theblaze.com claimed just that.

“Russian airborne troops (using US weapons that they had previously trained with at Fort Carson) will fly to and then parachute from their planes having the objectives of seizing the CIA’s main computer facility in Denver, the NSA’s main computer facility in Bluffdale, Utah, and taking control of main runways and terminals of the Denver International Airport,” the publication wrote.

The report goes on to say the exercise is for the “evacuation of the key personnel and equipment previously ‘freed’ from the CIA’s Denver base.”

There is currently no information either in English or in Russian that describes such a drill on the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation website.

It is unclear where these reports originated, as RT verified with Russian Airborne Forces spokesperson Col. Aleksandr Kucherenko that he had said nothing pertaining to the capture of Denver airport.

RT reported on the story on Wednesday, citing Kucherenko who announced that “Airborne troops from Russia and the United States will hold joint anti-terror drills in the US state of Colorado between May 24 and 31.”

Besides the military drills, the Russian soldiers are expected to get a taste of local life at a baseball game in Colorado Springs.

Foreign troops operating and training in the United States have been a continuous bone of contention in American public debate.

Paul Watson, writing for prisonplanet.com says that their presence touches upon latent fears of “global UN peacekeeping troops being used to quell unrest inside America.”

Drills involving outside troops also raise worries that the US would have to “rely on foreign mercenaries to restore order, confiscate weapons or even incarcerate citizens during a national emergency, because of the likelihood that Americans would refuse to carry out such orders against other Americans,” Watson writes.

Burning fake money to get real money

Let me see if I've learned anything from the last
5 years of business activity:

This form of bankster immolation is the gist of the
Bankster Putsch of 2008.
Explained simply, in order to balloon debt levels,
banks had only to give out loans,
because they are money, created on a keyboard.
Nobody actually gets to see the money in most transactions.
The same with derivatives. They are simply contracts to pay,
and piss poor ones too. They are insurance, without deposits,
or oversight.
They were used to rob real money invested by pension funds,
the world over. They don't call it the baby boom for nothing.
The banksters took the money, and "boom" went the pensions.
and Baby, did they ever blow up nice, like.

So, when this system seized up, what happened? Governments
gave money to the banks. This time, this was money with
reality attached. The banksters have long since lined their pockets
with the stuff.
Of course, countries don't have actual cash, free and clear,
but they can always print up some.
The very real bill goes to you and me.

What have banksters done with the real money?
Paid off political leaders. Yes. with your money.
They seem to be bribing your highest-ranking politicians.
Let's try the opposite theory. Has anyone tried to
stop the financial problems that caused the '08 crash?
Ain't that just democracy?

Here are some cute bears to soothe your souls

WTO becomes WTF

Wasn't it our oligarchs who decided, not much more
than 10 years ago, in Seattle,
that the World Trade Organisation would enforce a rule
that said that countries could not support businesses
because this was anti-competitive.
This was designed to guarantee that big western companies
would take over the world due to economies of scale,
and blackmail the poor countries into
surrendering their productive bounties
for free to western mercantilists.

This rule has been in permanent moratorium since the
Big Wall Street Putsch of 2008.

Many small countries, like Burkina Faso, Upper Volta and
Diego Garcia have tried to prosecute the United States
and the European Union under the rule, despite the moratorium
but they've been threatened with  undisclosed
political consequences perhaps involving an army
by the grand Ayatollah of Fiat  Moolah,
the Fakir/Faker, over in Washington, TG.
