forgetrance day, not remembrance

Remember this instead. All this fuss, pomp and ceremony over soldiers dead or alive puts across the subliminal message to impressionable half-wits that giving your life for your country is the best thing you can do, even if the war is immoral like the one in Mess-o-potamia. Victims of this propaganda end up literally being 'cannon-fodder' (UK metaphorical meaning: useless idiot). If the poppy sellers were also openly anti-war, then I would buy one. The ones who need to 'remember' are the politicians who invariably put soldiers unnecessarily in harm's way, but though they have the memory of the pachiderm, they've also got the skin of one, and the smell too.
